The Rodeo Girls

The eve of my 4 week birthday has given me time to reflect on the many days that I have enjoyed thus far. One highlight that comes to mind is my introduction to the infamous "Rodeo Girls" (see these beautiful ladies in the picture to my left). This is my Honey, Aunt Casey, and of course, Mommy hanging out at Rodeo Drive deep in the heart of LA. The pics below let you in on my experience with these classy ladies.

  • This is my lovely Honey--captain of the Rodeo Girls.

  • Much of my afternoons (apart from my naps of course) were filled with play time on the floor of my living room with my goofy Aunt Casey. She's a real hoot!

  • Okay I was enamored with Honey's glasses. I could have stared at her for hours.

  • I would like to say thank you to my Honey and Aunt Casey for traveling all the way from the great state of Texas to see me. I must have gotten a thousand sugars during their stay. On top of the sugars they were an incredible blessing to my dad and mom. Thank you Honey and Aunt Casey for the sugars, grocery store run, and yummy meals. Love you Rodeo girls.

Real Tough Guy

Mom and Dad often refer to me as their "sweetie" and for the most part that's what I am (100% sweetness). And then there are those other times. Dad calls these my "Tough Guy" moments. Just check out the transformation below.

  • "Wow mom you look awfully pretty today!"

  • The shirt says it all.

  • The shirt doesn't make the man, the man makes the shirt. Dad says I remind him of my uncle Tanner (tough guy through and through). What's up uncle T.

Well I am officially three weeks old and with each passing day not only do I get bigger but I become more and more curious as well. Just check out the picture with my good buddy Curious George (thanks Pops).

Riding in Style

My apologies on the great delay between posts. As you can see below I have been on the go. Check it out as my mama has me riding in style.

  • My dad was able to grab me the prettiest driver around. She's a looker all right. However she's not too fond of dad's idea to throw some new mud tires on my stroller. She's mama so I guess she has ultimate veto power.

  • Mama swears up and down that I'm a Baylor Bear. AAHH Sic'em Bears!

  • I may be a cowboy but I'd trade a stinky old stallion for this sweet lady any day.

  • This is my favorite way to ride. Close to the one I love. Thanks for the lift mom.

Mama's Boy

"Mama's boy." At least this is what I hear my dad say as I slip off into lala-land while in mama's arms. What can I say? I can't help it. My mom is the most beautiful woman in the world. I absolutely love her and she loves me (just see the pics below). I put a lot of pictures up today, knowing that I have some pretty special people checking me out for the first time. Love you Nanny!

  • I love mom's kisses. Just absolutely love them!

Fast Asleep!

My mom says I'm cute even when I am sleeping. That's good because sleep is one of the things I do best. Put me pretty much any where and I can sleep. Call me a pro at the shut-eye. The pics below are a few examples.

  • This is mom swaddling me (i.e., wrapping me up like a burrito). I absolutely love it.

  • Long day.

  • That's going to hurt later!
  • Sleeping on the go. Now that takes talent.

  • Mom and dad are always beat. I don't know what the problem is.

A Man of Many Hats

Even in my young age I understand that one of the essentials to hair growth is for a man's scalp to have the ability to breathe. Scalp + air = hair. Then why is that every adult on the planet desires to place things on my head? Why all the head coverings? Outrage would describe what I feel just thinking about it. For this reason, I urge all readers of this here post to please take a moment to sign my petition. It is the petition for the "Stop Taking Advantage of Helpless Heads" campaign. Please show your support and I would be grateful.

Much love,
The Abused Head of Lawson Jacob Grubbs

  • Just look at me. If that's not content and happy I do not know what is. But then adults with their fun step into the picture (see below).

  • Now there's a market, "baby do-rags."

  • Ribbit, Ribbit!

  • This one's for Honey!
Stop cranium abuse.

Splish Splash!

"That boy takes to the water like a duck." Such were the statements commonly spoken at my introduction to bath time. Well a duck I assure you I am not but loving the water, I have to admit it's true. Call me a fan. My dad says there is nothing wrong with a man loving bath time and I would agree. And since this blog has been mostly about me thus far I figured I would give you a look into the inaugural bath of Lawson Jacob Grubbs. See below...
  • Mom always makes sure the water is just right. Not too hot and not too cold. Just right!

  • I could do this for hours mom. This is probably why mom refers to me as her little "spa-baby."

  • And don't forget the shampoo. I love the way mama rubs her fingers through my golden locs.
  • Dry off time means the process is almost done. On top of the irresistible scent that I now possess I am warm and clean.
  • Did I forget to mention that I am a pretty happy baby after bath time.

Lawson Meets Family

Many of you do not know this but we newborns have what you adults call "superhuman powers." For instance, consider a newborn's uncanny ability to command the center of attention. Think about it. I have not the ability to hold a verbal conversation nor do I possess the physical ability to wow a crowd. Yet I can manage to grab the attention of an entire room and successfully hold that attention for hours on end. It's a sight to see really. I suppose it has something to do with newborn's incredible cute factor. My dad says I have the cute factor written all over me and that I get this from my mama (just see the pics below). This is my first few days with some of the family. My grandparents, one crazy uncle, and two goofy aunts came for a weekend visit.

  • This is my aunt Abigail. She refers to me as her little nugget. She even grits her teeth and gets all googly when she says it.

  • My aunt Lindsay is a newlywed. I was glad she flew all the way to CA to see me. I over heard her telling my mom that she might wait a little longer before having children of her own. Was it something I did? I'm only a 24/7 job!

  • This is dad hanging out with my uncle Kevin (the newlywed half to my aunt Linz). He's a Longhorn fan but we won't hold that against him. Gig'em Aggies!

  • My uncle Justin (Aunt Ab's hubby-to-be) showered me with gifts all the way from Washington DC. I think he's trying to get me into politics. This is my first Congressional mug and an official House of Representative bib (I'm told all the big wigs wear one).

  • No one can tell me that I'm not loved.

  • Some have labeled me a trend setter. Just check out Pops as he tries to see if he can sleep swaddled like me. Needless to say he's not as flexible as I am.
