Boys Slaying Dragons

As Natalie mentioned in the earlier post - the last time the Grubbs blogged Lawson was all of 17 months old. Consider this blog officialy "resurrected."  We figured a catch up post was in order.  A post providing a snapshot between then and now.  It's obviously not exhaustive because be honest -- you don't have the time.

We also figured it would be good to give our live-in superheroes some FaceTime (Ruthie, and our journey to bring her home, will probably consume much of the blog over the next two weeks).  As you think of it, please pray for Lawson and Fletcher.

  1. They will miss their parents
  2. They will adjust over the next several months (we all will).
Our family is about to forever change.  Before that change occurs, here are a few pictures depicting our life with two boys - days filled with slaying dragons, rescuing princesses, wrestling matches, baking cookies, reading books, park outings, and staining our clothes with Georgia red clay.  Natalie will be glad to have a little pink in the house!

And we're off...almost...

I know, I know, it's been a long time... Last time I posted, our oldeset son was 17 months old.  Well, a bit has changed since then.  Thank goodness, most of you know us and realize the changes and therefore are not going to hold it against us that I am not a blogger.  However, for this part of our lives, we were asked by many of you to "at least post pictures"  of our China adventures. Don't worry...we'll do a little more than that.  Like I said, I am not a "blogger", but this will serve as a great way to remember what on earth we did in China and what our days as a family of five will be like when we get home.

So enjoy, all three of you who will be reading this. ;)

Here is a snapshot of our travel plans

  • Tuesday, May 22 - Drive to Texas to drop off our boys with my parents
  • Friday, May 25 - our plane to China leaves out of Atlanta at 12:30am (yes, we're driving 10 hours to Texas and 10 hours back...)
  • But since we have to be to the airport at 9:30pm, I'm considering our departure date to be the 24th...when you've been waiting 18 months for this, what's one more day?  Everything!!!

Although a huge list of prayer requests could be mentioned here, the one that comes to the top is for my mother. She (and my dad) have offered to watch our kids and I could not be more thankful. But when we arrive at her house, she will have just come home from spending three weeks (literally, to the day) with my sweet little sister and her first baby...so night feedings, etc, will be making my mom a little more tired than usual. She would never complain, but I just want to ask that you keep her in your prayers that she would have strength to care for my children, who still do not always sleep through the night. :)

I am a wopping 17 months now! Very hard to believe. I know you're thinking, " wow it would have been nice to see pics between the one year birthday and now." But really it was so that you can see all my new hair and how my teeth are not so far from each other now. I almost look like a real little kid. There was a while that i overheard my Dad keep asking my Mom if she thought I was going to need braces to fix my "gap." I mean, what is a gap? It sounded scary, so at night, I prayed the "gap" would go away (and that I would be blessed with more hair) and it all came true. Growing up is so great.
Of course, I can now run, go up and down stairs without help, assist mom with dishes (kind of), put things in the trash (and in the toilet, but mom does not like that one so much). I also LOVE to read, eat, play with balls, cuddle with "mommy" and wrestle with "daddy." I can say please (turns out like "me" and he touches his little chest), thank you, hi, bye bye, mommy, daddy, ball, tree (like tee...you know for Christmas tree), bible and baby. Also on occation, I say Jesus. Always good to learn that name early. That's an important one they tell me. And like every good boy, I LOVE cars. No one ever has to teach a boy the sounds of a car; they just come naturally.

mmm desert...the best part

Wow this food can make you real lethargic...I've heard it's what's in the turkey.

my girlfriend

I realize that I should wait on this whole girlfriend thing, but I have found the woman of my dreams. She's blonde, blue eyed and as fiesty as they come. And she loves me. It's clear to see that we are meant to be together. We've known each other practically all our lives. Her name is grace. She's the only girl I've ever kissed.

Here she is hugging me as we look out into the future.

Just trying some hand holdin while we watch a little baby einstein.

We're even compatible in our desires for teething toys. The side of the playpen is just perfect for our heights and gum abilities.

Grace has now learned the pucker kiss. I however still prefer wide open bass mouth.

And when you kiss open mouthed, there is no need to only drink from your cup. You can totally share with your girlfriend...

One year down...

birthdays are so fun! I got to eat a whole cake, get sung to a million times, (something about happy and lawson, and then they'd clap at the end), then i got to open presents, stay up late, swim in my new pool and take a bath in my new pool and drink non watered down juice. I am quite an old man now. Feelin' good, alright.

O come on guys... i see that cake down there

You want some?

Do YOU want some?

Ok, I'll eat it...and I did. I finished the whole thing. I was a "little" wired later, but slept real sound until morning, once i went to bed.

Attempting to eat grapes (this is a couple of months ago)

And here is the pirate video, maties.

here i am! the long awaited lawson!

So we're moving houses...got lots going on here. Sorry for the long time between updates. For those of you who do not check my blog anymore, please come back. My mom will try harder, I think.

I am now a prolific crawler, getting into all sorts of things. I can go up and down stairs, without help, drink from a cup or straw, creep everywhere, almost stand (well for a few seconds until i realize i'm standing) get up and down off of the couch and ride my four wheeler. Yep, i said my four wheeler. My Mimi and Paw Paw came down for my 1st birthday and got me a four wheeler. The instructions said that it would be appropriate for 12-36 month olds. I heard my parents saying that I probably wouldn't get it...well, all you have to do is hop on and push a little red button with your thumb. I go four wheeling in our new yard and wave at the cars as they pass. Only you have to be careful to hold on...when you're waving and pushing that red button, sometimes you get bucked off!

Eating in the midst of unpacked boxes

Hey, this is new...cabinets with nothing but toilet paper.

Pirate Grubbs here. My new thing is putting on hats. I used to hate them, but now the feeling of a do rag with a fake earing hanging off the side is quite pleasant. This was me before bed. I chew the passy bc it feels good to my teeth. I do not actually suck the passy...that's for babies.
